Homeschool Support Groups
and Activities

The following is a list of support groups, co-ops and activities in and around Polk County, Florida. While we make an effort to provide up-to-date information, the leaders and contact information changes with time. If you know of a group that is not on the list, please contact the school so we can add them.


Bible Presbyterian Church 5 on 5 Soccer:

Check the Bible Presbyterian web site for updates.


Connie Gerbasi/Science/Math Co-op Dover: Classes meet at the New Hope Freewill Baptist Church, 3101 Sydney Dover Road, Dover FL on Mondays and Tuesdays. Several science classes for younger students, as well as Biology, Anatomy, Health, Physical Science, General Science and Chemistry. For additional details, check out the Connie Gergasie page.


Florida Parent Educators Association (FPEA): A Florida support group that support groups or individual homeschoolers can join. The FPEA hosts the largest homeschool convention in the state, and has one of the most informative web sites.


Haven Homeschoolers: A cooperative group of homeschooling parents and children. Teachers' (that's the parents) meetings the first Friday of the month at Lake Hartridge Nature Park on Havendale Blvd.

Homegrown 4-H: Students can get involved in a wide range of projects including community service, air rifle, poultry, rabbits, cooking, crafts, horse, love-a-horse, photography, archery, computer technology and public speaking.

Homeschoolers on the Ridge: One of the oldest support groups in Florida. (1986) Their famous "Parents Night Out" meetings helped build homeschooling in Central Florida.

Hope Homeschoolers: A Christian support group in Lakeland, Florida.
In 1991, a group of Christian families met to share ideas, to learn from each other, and to plan enriching activities for the children. From that small group, Hope has grown to more than 100 families who walk alongside each other, discovering together how to meet the challenges of homeschooling.

Joyful Hearts Homeschoolers: A faith-based cooperative group of homeschooling parents and children.

Lighthouse Home Schoolers:A Christian-based, but not Christian-exclusive, homeschooling community that works as a cooperative group for field trips, educational and social activities, community service, and support for one another. We meet monthly throughout the school year. Join this group in August or January. See the website for additional details.
