Dear Parents,
Below are various class offerings for the local homeschool community. You can read the descriptions of the classes as well as the dates, times, and fees. All classes take place on Mondays in my central Lakeland home. Class size is limited thus a $25 non-refundable deposit is due to register your student. The remaining payment is due within the first few weeks of class. Please note that the Creative Writing classes listed below are for 2023 and will not begin registration until December. Writer’s Workshop for 5th – 8th
In this class, students will work in learning and/or sharpening their writing skills. Students will use the writing process: prewriting, drafting, revising, editing, and publishing as well as group work to become more proficient in their writing through sentence variety and paragraph writing, as well as varied writing purposes and types. Students will meet in a class once a week for 10 weeks. Students will have weekly writing assignments. Students should be able to handwrite and have access to a computer for emails and typing documents.

Time: 9:30 – 10:15 AM
Fee: $100

Creative Writing for 5th – 8th
In this class students will create an anthology of poetic writing and short stories. Students will meet in a class once a week for 10 weeks. Students will have weekly writing assignments. Students should be able to handwrite and have access to a computer for emails and typing documents. [This class will not begin registration until December and will open to the students of Writer’s Workshop first as seating is limited.]

Time: 9:30 – 10:15 AM
Fee: $100

High School English class (2 semesters)
In High School English class, students will study writing and literature; this year we will study American literature: novels, a play, a biography, and poetry. In composition, students will correctly write paragraphs, essays, reviews, critiques, opinions, and presentations. Students will meet in a class once a week for 12 weeks where they will take notes as well work with partners or in groups. Students will have weekly assignments that they will turn in the following week. Students need to be able to handwrite and have access to a computer for emails and typing documents.

Literature will need to be obtained; the books have not yet been finalized for this coming year; I will send you this info at least a month prior to class starting. (They will need approximately 6 books.)

Time: 10:45-11:45 AM
Fee: $125 per semester

Beginning Writing 3rd – 5th grade
In the Beginning Writing class, students will learn the fundamentals of writing sentences with a variety of structure, good word choice, the writing process, and paragraph writing. Students will meet in a class once a week for 10 weeks. Students will have weekly writing assignments. Students should be able to handwrite; parents will need to have access to a computer for emails and printing materials if necessary.

Time: 1:45 – 2:30
Fee: $100
