Support Groups - Central Florida

The following is a list of support groups, co-ops and activities in and around Polk County, Florida. The list is provided as a reference to our families and local homeschool families looking for additional resources. While we make an effort to provide up-to-date information, the leaders and contact information changes with time. If you know of an appropriate group that is not on the list, please contact the school so we can add them.

Connie Gerbasi/Science/Math Co-op Dover: Classes meet at the New Hope Freewill Baptist Church, 3101 Sydney Dover Road, Dover FL on Mondays and Tuesdays. Several science classes for younger students, as well as Biology, Anatomy, Health, Physical Science, General Science and Chemistry.

Florida Parent Educators Association (FPEA): A Florida support group that groups or individual homeschoolers can join. The FPEA hosts the largest homeschool convention in the state, and has one of the most informative web sites.

HUG Homeschoolers Under God
A ministry of First Baptist Church of Auburndale FL. "To provide encouragement and support for Christian homeschool families".

Hope Homeschoolers: Home Oriented Parent Educators of Central Florida
In 1991, a group of Christian families met to share ideas, to learn from each other, and to plan enriching activities for the children. From that small group, Hope has grown to more than 100 families who walk alongside each other, discovering together how to meet the challenges of homeschooling.

Lighthouse Home Schoolers: A Christian-based, but not Christian-exclusive, homeschooling community that works as a cooperative group for field trips, educational and social activities, community service, and support for one another. We meet monthly throughout the school year. Join this group in August or January. See the website for additional details.
