High School Course Catalog
The High School Course Catalog is divided into subjects, for quick Reference. Details of the graduation tracks including specific requirements for the various diploma options is on the High School Graduation page. When choosing the course and curriculum that will be used, it is critical that the choice of classes be made in the context of the individualized graduation plan.
To access the course list use the quick links in the sidebar to the right.
English - Language Arts
FOUR credits required. One from each level 1-4 must be taken.
The only exceptions are college level courses taken through a college or university that can count for level 3 or 4.
ALL English MUST include literature and writing as a major concentration. K-8 level English or Grammar courses are often broken into several parts for grading, like grammar, spelling, writing, vocabulary and literature. At the high school level, all of those parts are included in the course description for just one course and are averaged proportionally for the credit.

*Algebra 1, or an equivalent course is required.
*Geometry or an equivalent course is required.
*Algebra 1A, 1B, Algebra 1or Algebra 1Honors are equivalent courses; only one will count.

The Standard Diploma Track still requires Algebra 1or an equivalent course(s) and Geometry, but can then be followed by lower level courses.

Bibilical World View - Bible
Two Credits Required.
FOFCAI, as a Christian private school, requires our students to earn a minimum of two high school credits in Bible, Theology, or a Biblical World View. While the Florida course code numbering and name system is used for all core academic and most elective courses, based on FOFCAI’s course content meeting or exceeding the prescribed standards, Bibilical World View or Bible courses are not detailed as part of the public school’s system prescribed course offerings. The content of the courses meet the same standards of academic rigor and seat hours of instruction as those detailed in any other course used for high school credit.
Vocational - Career Prep
No Credits Required.
This is the category of courses used for the Bright Futures Gold Seal Awards.
Electives
No Credits Required.
Howeve,r most students will have between 4 and 6 Electives to get to the required 24 credits for graduation.
Florida lists hundreds of elective courses, and that’s before considering the vocational category. Some electives are rigorous academic courses that do not fall into the normal high school categories of English (EN), Mathematics (MA), Science (SC), Social Studies (AH, WH, AG, EC, SS), or World Language (FL), but can be used by the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship or the NCAA as a core course even though the category used is Elective. An example would be HUM2020 offered at Polk State College as a required core class for students pursuing an AA degree. (HUM2020 INTRODUCTION TO HUMANITIES)
